Why the Fairly OddParents is the WORST Show on TV

Hello everyone! And welcome to to Discussion #10!

With recent visits from my nephews and niece, I got to sit down and watch a bunch of different shows for the first time in a while. Some of them were actually good, some were forgettable, but I was shocked to see some of the quality in a few of them. Believe me, I will talk about some of those shows eventually. 

However, the show that surprised me the most, by far, was The Fairly OddParents. I mean, I grew up with the show. It was my favorite show on Nickelodeon for many years, and it's original content is still way better than anything on the show currently. But the show I watched the other day was...different. If anything, it felt like a spinoff to the original show. I've heard horror stories about Season 10, and the show's new Mary Su- I mean character, but I haven't really sat down and watched any of the season yet. Well, the most recent encounter with the show made me change my mind, and I wanted to get to the bottom of it. What I found, was probably the worst writing, continuity, and lack of effort I have seen on TV in almost 4 years! 

So today, we are going to take a look at all of my biggest problems with Season 10 of The Fairly OddParents, which is hands down the WORST cartoon on TV right now.

1. Lack/Overuse of Characters - As you can probably tell from my picture on this, the Fairly OddParents seems to have a problem with potential in its cast. Remember Trixie, Timmy's original love interest? Forgotten. Or how about Timmy's best friends, Chester and AJ? If you're new to the show, you'd probably wonder who they even are. Tootie? No where to be seen, and the Fairly Odd "Movie" doesn't count. As far as I can see, the only characters that they still use as of Season 10 are Timmy, Chloe, Cosmo, Crocker, Dad, Foop, and Wanda, probably in that order, too. While I'm not complaining about the removal of Sparky, it is pretty sad how they can't even explain why he's not there. But seriously, look at the picture again. There are over 60 characters in the show that they can use, and they keep throwing them in the back of the bus in favor of the overused 7. No one ever wanted ANOTHER new main character, and all we ever see anymore is Chloe. And sadly for the fans, Mary Sue main character's NEVER work! They are boring, bland, have nothing to offer, and only tend to waste time. 

2. The Introduction of Chloe - Did I mention that Chloe is a Mary Sue character? I did? Well, I just wanted to make sure you all knew, just like the show is doing to its fans. Seriously, the whole point of getting Fairy Godparents in the first place is because you're miserable. Sure, it's sad that Chloe has trouble making friends, I'm sure we've all been there before. But if she got the Nobel Prize for kindness, is friends with the president, and lives in a fancy mansion, I can't imagine how she could possibly be that miserable! Chloe should've been a character that had a few MAJOR flaws that could be fixed. How about teaching her how to be a good friend, and working to achieve that goal, instead of being automatically loved by all? At least it's SOMETHING! And they've forgotten the whole reason she "deserved" Fairies in the first place after about 5 episodes. Really, she's not sad at all. Also, they tend to throw her in into every plot possible, even if it makes no sense. If there's no reason for her to be there, then leave her out! Trust me, I think most fans would be thrilled!

3. Seasonal Rot (Simpsons Syndrome) - Yeah, I couldn't think of a good way to explain this. And I don't blame the writers for this. But the Fairly OddParents is nearly 16 years old as I write this. It's currently in its 10th season, and the writers are bound to run out of ideas eventually. After Season 8, the show completely jumped the shark. I know some people may think this happened earlier, but the show still had some good episodes during Seasons 7 and 8 in my opinion. But to be honest, the show could've and should've ended with either "Channel Chasers" or "Timmy's Secret Wish" as the series finale. Both of those specials were fantastic, and would've ended the series on a positive note. Sadly, they probably won't even get to write a fitting ending to the show, considering it's been moved to Nicktoons now. It can continue its zombie life until it's finally ended.

4. Cosmo - Yeah, this one hurts to type about. Cosmo is suppose to be the funny one, and the one character that can surprisingly be the voice of reason every once in a while. Watching him in Season 10 is very similar to watching Patrick Star in Season 7 of Spongebob...impossible! Cosmo has gone from 50% idiot/50% comedy to 100% idiot, and is now the one to screw everything up. It's getting very old nowadays. Also, I'm starting to get the feeling that he doesn't really care about Timmy all that much. In the later seasons, he constantly ignores pretty much everything that going wrong, and that could be at its worst in Season 10 of the show. 

5. Multiple Projects - With "Bunsen is a Beast" coming up in rapid fashion, Butch Hartman is probably much more focused on that, rather than the dying Fairly OddParents. Almost every plot device has been used in the show, and there's really nothing more that needs to be said or done in the series at this point. "Bunsen is a Beast" is supposedly going to be the comeback show, so Hartman needs to make sure that it's perfect. Although it's certainly doesn't look that good to me, I'm going to give the show a chance.

It's a shame to see what has happened to one of my favorite shows growing up. I think it would just be in the best interest for the show to end now than to keep going on and dragging it through the mud. What do you guys think? Thanks for reading!
